I don't know if any official Church communication has ever used the word "literally."Our Lord’s listeners understood him perfectly well. They no longer thought he was speaking metaphorically. If they had, if they mistook what he said, why no correction? source But even if it has, they do not mean "physically identical to." "It's literally blood" and "it's physically identical to blood" mean the same thing. |
