He did not, he wasn't even in power yet. The worst president in recent time (Jimmy Carter) was weak on foreign policy (similar to how Obama is a runner up to the worst president in recent time, also weak on foreign policy). The Iranians were scared of what would happen when the power changed from a weak president to one that was stronger on foreign policy. |
