My mother in her youth, until she moved to a better country, lamented that she didn't inherit those features and thus couldn't hide her Jewishness. It's plausible that Jews already had DNA for more "white" features from before the exile, but evolution in Europe favored such features while it didn't in the Middle East/North Africa. i.e. Jews were more attracted to other Jews who looked "white." This might have also allowed a small amount of intermarriage and rape to express itself over a large population over generations. Studies that test ancestry use Y-chromosomes and mtDNA, which aren't selected for. In that there are no traits in those genes which make someone more or less fit or attractive except for the occasional disorder with those genes. |
