Seeing that they were born and raised in a colony where freedom of, and from religion was the norm and education was public and secular they never were hooked into that crazy belief system perpetuated by the oligarchy (nobility) of the time. They didn't go to England to depose King George because it was a difficult and lengthy voyage, where their intent would have too likely been news prior to their landing and therefore a flat out stupid idea and they knew that. It was far easier to fight this on their ground, which they knew. The American Revolution was more of a guerrilla war than you recognize. |
