You'd know differently if you had. Yes, slaves bred in the Americas. No, they were not treated well for it, many giving birth in the field and still expected to pick their quota of cotton every single day. Children had their growth and development stunted by shortened infant breastfeeding time (there was no formula in those days) and by a generally poor diet throughout life. I don't consider any of that as being "cared for".It's not the opposite of genocide. It's callous disregard for the plight of other human beings. |
