The belief that it's an arrangement for convenience and benefits is one of the poisons in modern relationships.Some people are "companionable"; they want to spend their lives with a specific "other." Some people are not. They may want the "things" that go with marriage (including sex), but they don't really want to face the loss of autonomy this entails. Therein lies misery. |
