Understood ... one of these days, hopefully we can get together. This was one of many stories WBAI had me cover when I started out, and sadly I never really got many of the answers I was looking for at the time. Given all that, I'd be interested in hearing more details than I was able to get my hands on back then since I was involved in the community with the rebuilding of the Apollo and the early days of Inner City Broadcasting in NYC. A lot of stories swirled around back then.I'll just say that's an awful lot of stuff to study. I had enough difficulty just in sorting through all of the original publications of "Muhammad Speaks" around that time hoping to find some clues. Interesting stuff, and even more interesting some of the very positive things the movement did on the streets of Harlem and the Bronx in countering the problems of the time. Can't say I agreed with all of them as far as some of the rage elements went, but the results of the discipline they brought were quite clear. |
