A number of Presidents did not use a Bible for inauguration either. Many didn't use the "so help me God" tagline, which is NOT part of the Oath."In God We Trust" didn't exist on money (which seems inappropriate IMO to print that on money, given the lessons of Christ about same) until the 1950s. This is a secular government, or so it was intended as. Cold War's over, too. |
