As someone who pays for roads, I have a right to use them.You have no such right because no such right exists. The Government can mandate alternate day driving or ban driving for all but certain personnel like the military, first responders and postal workers. They can ban certain kinds of polluting vehicles from the roadways. They can ration fuel and/or overtax it for private individuals. The Government can also ban the manufacture and importation of new passenger vehicles for individual use as was done during WW2. The taxes you pay for roads under the National Interstate and Defense Highway Act of 1956 are for national security purposes and not for your non-existent "right to drive". |
