I'm wondering what year the Orion VIs are because I noticed the older roll destination signs. Also what engines do they have? |

I am wondering if Albany still has any 2 stroke powered buses anymore? A good friend of mine who lives near Albany was telling me about such buses not too long ago and he's a big 2 stroke engine fan. |

The last 2-stroke buses CDTA had were the Orion I's that were retired 4 years ago this month. However, some two-strokes (namely some early-90's 96A3's and one RTS) survive in the buses Yankee Trails uses on the parking shuttles for state workers. |

The Novas are 3000-3011, 3021-3030, IINM...and then 9901-9959 (I believe, I may be off by a few numbers). The 9900s and 3000s are not the same order. |

The division of the orders are like this for the initiated:9901-9950: 1999, transit seats, square windows. 9951-9959: 1999, soft seats with luggage racks/reading lights, square windows. 3001-3011: 2000, similar to 9951-59, but with rounded windows. 3021-3030: 2000, transit seats, rounded windows. The 3000's were the first buses to have the LED interior sign and automated announcements which were later retrofitted onto the earlier buses (even some near-retirement Orion I's) in early 2004. The NFTA's order of LFS's were piggybacked onto 3021-30, but the seats and window setup are different. |

The 3000 series Nova's were delivered at 0001 to 0011 and 0021-0030. After their Computer Fueling system refused to allow them to fuel the buses, the confusion committee met to work out a plan to correct this. After several sleepless nights, they decided to renumber the buses into the 3000 series. Low and behold, they decided only to scrape off the 0 and replace it with a 3, and you guessed it, the 3 was a different color and size. The roof numbers were completely the wrong color and shorter in size, but hey, they saved $10 per bus this way! LOL.Bus 2000 was tested with Twin Vision Signs a few years ago, but, the confusion committee decided that blind patrons have a hard time seeing the signs so back to curtin signs! LOL. The confusion Committee meets on a regular basis just to screw things up. Take for example the #5 Bus. At one time there was 3 #5 routes. There was the #5 Albany-Schenectady, the #5 Northern Blvd. and the #5 Troy-5th Ave.. So if a passenger needed to get information on how to get somewhere, they were simply told to take the #5 Bus. LOL |

Trust me, they don't operate as well as you might think. Mechanically sound, yes, but in terms of carrying capacity and how the hold up in rainstorms, no. |
