Posted by Busway Flyer on Fri Feb 8 11:47:36 2008 NEOPLAN to supply 80 trolley-buses to VenezuelaDeliveries to begin in mid-2007 / option for additional vehicles NEOPLAN Bus GmbH will be delivering a total of 80 NEOPLAN N 6321 articulated trolley-buses to the city of Barquisimeto in Venezuela. There is an option for a further eight vehicles; deliveries are scheduled to commence in mid-2007 and be completed by September 2008. The contract for this order was signed at the End of April by Martin Scharrer (member of the Board of Management of NEOMAN Bus GmbH), Joachim Reinmuth (Chairman of the Board of Management of NEOPLAN Bus GmbH) and José Luis Garran (General Director of the Barquisimeto and Barquitrans Consortium) (see photo). The vehicles will be built at the NEOPLAN plant at Pilsting in Lower Bavaria. The traction system for the vehicles (Mitrac 500) will be fitted there direct; it will be supplied by Bombardier. Delivery of the NEOPLAN trolley-buses will take place in batches of ten. They will be transported to Venezuela by sea and then cover the remaining 120 km to Barquisimeto under their own steam. There they will be deployed on the routes operated by the city transport authority. Project Manager Robert Katzer, Regional Manager South at NEOMAN Bus GmbH, underlined the significance of this order: "NEOPLAN is the leader in the trolley-bus sector, as the international deployment of these vehicles proves. The fact that we are now winning contracts for these vehicles outside Europe too underscores NEOPLAN's competence in this field." NEOMAN Bus GmbH Press & Public Relations |
