NJT MCI #7503 (and questions about the 7501-3 batch)

Curious: Is this bus a 102DW3SS instead of a D4000 only because of the logo on the front, or are there rivets on the roofline (instead of welds)? I don't see any in my picture, and I looked to TTMG and didn't see any there either.

Also, has NJT been the sole operator of bus 7503?

Is this the narrow one? Kinda hard to tell by the picture, but IIRC, the three demo buses were 7501-7503 and one was 40' X 102"; the other was 45' X 102" and the third was 40' X 96". Forgot which was which...

It is a 102D3ss, 102" wide. All D series are 102" wide.

All D series are 102" wide.

No they are not. 11 D4000s that are 96" wide have been built, 3 for New Jersey Transit (one is shown below; 7803-7805) and 8 for Pace (6900-6907).

The official designation of that model was the D4000N (N for 96" wide).

If that official designation is D4000N, then I was correct, all '102D3' series are 102". Hence, the '102'.

Had MCI not changed their model names in the summer of 2001, the narrow coaches were to be identified as 96D3.
