This is one of my all-time favorite Muni pics:Nothing bus Fishbowls!! :) Taken during my first SF visit, August 1988, at Kirkland Division. I was staying in the Sheraton at Fishermans Wharf, which is right across the street from Kirkland to the west. My room was on the east side, so I had a bird's-eye view of the yard. Another one of my favorites, rebuilt 1969 GMC T6H-5307 3574 at the Golden Gate visitor's center parking lot, with the GG in the background. This was also from that 8/88 visit. Yet another pic from 8/88, 1984 Flyer D902 4591 in the Fisherman's Wharf area. The 4500/4600s were my favorite Muni buses, they had LOUD DDEC 6V92 engines. Also, they had these cool 2-tone outside audible turn signals, when the right turn signal was activated, you'd hear them. The newer buses have them also, but they don't sound as good. Alas, the 4500/4600s have been out of service for awhile, and with the impending retirement of the 1988 & 1988 D40HFs, they may not even be around as training buses :( Maybe the Pacific Bus Museum, or a private collector will save one (or maybe Muni themselves). |

Moving into the 90s...4624 laying over at the Daly City BART station on the 28-19th Ave line in July, 1991. (I took this pic while waiting for a slow-ass samTrans bus to Candlestick Park to see the Giants play the Mets. For $1.00 more, I coulda gotten an Express Muni bus from downtown SF to the stadium. Instead, I got to the park only minutes before the first pitch, then afterwards, had another long wait to get back to Daly City, while virtually the entire Muni fleet passed by going back to SF. Oh well, at least now if I go to a Giants game, I can take the T-Third Muni Metro line!) :) I think this was taken in July 1992, or maybe it was July 1996. 4624 climbing a hill on the 83-Pacific (back then, this route was through-route with the 12-Folsom (I think), dunno if it still is). This pic is definitely from 7/96. 1977? Flyer E-700 electric trolley bus westbound on the 1-California line at Kearney and Sacramento (I think). That's it for Bay Area bus pics, later on (probably not today), I will post some Muni Metro, BART and SCVTA rail pics on SubChat. Enjoy! |

I see that 3574 has the EIP which is associated with 4th generation fishbowls (and very few 3rd gen), but I thought those all of those MUNI fishbowls were T8H-5305 (and a few 5305A)??? |

Metrobus (WMATA) original color scheme would've have gray at the bottom of the bus, unpainted stainless steel (except later rebuilds), the blue and red strips are not quite as thick and AFAIK, all WMATA fishbowls had A/C. |

It's a far piece from my abode in Eastern Pa.,though. |

You're right, those would be TDH-5305s. I think the 5307s didn't come along until the 70s. I have a pic of one of the rare air-conditioned Muni Fishbowls (3618), taken in July 1992 at the CalTrain station, but I don't know where it is at the moment. |

Speaking of the Flyer ETBs...June 1996 at Presidio Division, which covers Muni ETB routes in the northern part of San Francisco. The Muni headquarters is directly behind the yard (or at least it was back then). Strangely, no ETB routes pass directly by the yard, as the only routes that serve it are diesel bus routes 38-Geary and 43-Masonic. |
