Interesting. But here's the $64 question: can this hybrid artic move like the most recent batch of NYCT D60s? |

It would probably move even better than the D60HFs. As for the restyled artic, this comes as absolutely no surprise to me, as this is the replacement for the articulated Classics. |

This was mentioned a while back on the HSR (Hamilton, ON) site, where there was an artist's rendering of what this would look like...and that these would replace the 25-year old GMDD Classic/New Look artics. This was also mentioned on the Canadian version of forums like this (link is to the specific thread and other related ones). |

Given how Ontario is in the processing of ADA-style requirements for buses, why they didn't put the ramp at the front door (and put in a complicated manual ramp) is interesting and puzzling. |

HSR's DE60LFRs have a ramp at thr front too. Like all of HSR's other LF buses, it has two ramps. The rear ramp is electronic as well, tho perhaps it can be manually deployed. |

So does anyone think the MTA might look into these? Or do you think they would not be good with our streets, as people keep saying?Don't they want to expand articulated service, and are only faced with finding a new model? |

I think you mean the GM Artics as HSR didn't have Classic artics. Also found an interesting photo of the buses in this topic: |

It's perfectly within the ADA's requirements for a wheelchair ramp to be at the center or rear door so long as it allows access to one or more wheelchair tiedown locations. Admittedly it's slightly less convenient for the driver to have to walk back 25 or even nearly 50 feet to secure a wheelchair, but it's perfectly allowable. |

"But since they've restyled it, then couldn't they give it another chance, as the issue might be resolved?"I personally see no reason why not. New Flyer deserves another chance in New York, and this new articulated unit along with their other exciting new models and designs could and should earn them just that. Besides, if the MTA wants their BRT proposal to be taken seriously, they can't continue to turn their noses up at well-built and stylishly-designed low-floor articulated buses. |
