November 21, 1964 - The Book of First Runs
Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York
New York City Transit Authority
Staten Island Bus Division
With the opening of the new Verrazano-Narrows Bridge linking Staten Island to Brooklyn, a new bus route, R7 - Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, is inaugurated. At the onset, it runs from Victory Boulevard and Clove Road to the 95th Street-Fourth Avenue station of the BMT's RR - Broadway subway. In 1965 it would be extended to Port Richmond Square (either on May 12 or November 3), and renumbered as S7 in 1975-76, and S53 in 2001.
