Will plexiglass/shields 100% protect drivers given how easily COVID spreads? Will the union accept front-door boarding until the pandemic ends, given the large number of MTA lives already lost? COVID is quite sneaky even with barriers. Will MTA revenues increase drastically? Some would use a free transfer from the subway. Many discretionary trips would instead be made by walking, jogging, biking, ride-share and/or combining trips into one. I think the MTA will be very disappointed in how much revenue this raises, until the pandemic fully ends and things are back to normal. |

NICE resumed June 27 per their Facebook/Twitter. I don't believe their drivers are in a union, so they may be unable to protest unsafe work conditions. |

When the County privatized the operations one of the provisos was continuing the union recognition. I think it's an ATU local. |

Maybe because they were in the news with some big school bus operators on the Island, it just stuck in my mind. I remember that the vendor had to accept the contract, and last month negotiated a new contract as TranDev, but didn't get the union right. But primarily it was a response to the comment about them not being represented. |
