Buses without power steering were a pleasure to drive, even if you had to stand up a little to turn a sharp corner. They were great exercise buses and you didn't need to go to the gym to keep yourself in shape. Until they day they retired the last ones (Flx #434 and GMC #5549), I normally drove one, and my stomach remained pretty flat. After that, my belly started extending itself a bit. In my humble opinion, each garage should still have a few non-power steering buses for those who liked them (and quite a number of my fellow Bus Operators did!). |

For what it's worth it's a mall route and it's quicker to get to the mall from the ferry terminal taking the S61 over the S44. I'm really surprised there isn't two runs either. They could've ran a bus on the S79, but the potholes on Hylan Boulevard would tear them up. |

I would trust them to go anywhere. They run just the same as they did when they were active. 8466 is in fantastic mechanical as well as physical condition. As long as the bus will go into direct drive, I have faith they would be fine handling anything around here.This is just my opinion obviously but it is based on the high quality workmanship of the buses that have undergone restoration, and from the rides I have enjoyed on said buses. |
