Customers are getting screwed left and right. My friend drives a school bus part time.He messaged me: I am up here at Blue Mt Ski Area. There are 6 Bieber Buses up here. They have been called immediately back to Kutztown, leaving all the kids here. The schools have been told to get their own school buses to come get the kids ,because Beiber's insurance was just cancelled. |

A whole gaggle of passengers were stranded at Allentown when the 5:30 departure to Philly was cancelled. It's a hideous mess. |

That sounds borderline criminal. I've never heard of insurance that didn't give you legally required 30 days notice, so that's a suspicious excuse. |

Recall they were booted from PABT for non-payment of gate fees. If their insurance was canceled today, they likely had prior warning and were heavily in arrears there too. Sounds like they tried to maintain service through the warning period hoping to bring in enough revenue to make a good faith payment, but still failed to do so.Carl R. Bieber Jr. died in 2005 after retiring from the company in 2001. He's probably rolling over in his grave today with what the new ownership has done with the company that had his father's and his name on the sides of their buses for decades. |

Bieber not the only bus company announcing it's closure today. Kelley Transit based in Torrington CT announced today they are bankrupt and are closing tomorrow. They operated mainly charters, but also had weekly casino runs to Mohegan Sun and the new MGM casino in Springfield MA. They also operated 2 commuter runs to & from Hartford under contract to CT Transit. Those runs will be operated by CT Transit Hartford Division starting Monday until a new operator can be secured.Mark |

Trans Bridge did take over some Bieber routes last summer, when Bieber lost its PABT gates. However, Trans Bridge would probably need to hire former Bieber drivers to cover the service. |

They would also need to acquire some buses. From what I hear, Beiber buses are old junk, probably in worse shpae than what NJT is now retiring. Trans Bridge has very high standards, seems to turn over their non-NJT owned buses every 7 or 8 years. |

Greyhound should have been gone before anyone else, with the way their service has deteriorated. From the horror stories that you read online about their terrible customer service & condition of it's buses,it's only a matter of time before the ship sinks. |

Their customer service has been complete and utter shit for at least 15 years. Megabus and the Chinatown buses ate their lunch in the Albany area (it says something when drivers and ticket agents who barely speak English still make you feel more welcome). If it wasn't for the Trailways pool arrangement I don't think anyone would willingly go to the Greyhound terminal - few people pay attention to the name on the side of the bus, and probably associate the outstanding Trailways drivers with Greyhound. |

The majority of the Bieber fleet was older. They had some newer buses that they used for charters, but they would also use the late 90's MCI D's and E's on charters as well as the line runs. Near the end I know they had a couple of newer Van Hools and had a demo or leased 45 foot Temsa. Due to their financial woes, they didn't or couldn't purchase or lease buses to replace more of the fleet. They lost the Kutztown University athletics and campus shuttle contracts in late 2018, a huge loss as they had those contracts for years, and the campus is literally at the end of the street from their garage. Given the loss of that work, plus what they owed Port Authority, NYC for unpaid parking tickets, IRS and PA tax liens, I'm surprised they stayed in business this long. Hopefully their drivers, mechanics and office staff all find new employment.Mark |

In Canada, they just did from Sudbury, ON to Vancouver. In the US midwest, Greyhound is down to a skeleton. There is nothing anymore from Minneapolis to Spokane, now badly fragmented by Jefferson Lines. Salt Lake to California is also gone. Amtrak's Cal Zephyr was honoring their tickets for a while. |
