Glad U like. I did in fact ride the Direct both ways, starting at the Mall to Frankford, then later on Frankford to the Mall. While not a lot of business, I can only presume ( and hope) it will catch on. Many people on the local 14 so if they get used to the fact that there is a faster way, perhaps they;ll make the switch. Septa needs to advertise; not sure of what they are doing.
The Direct did move along pretty good, long distances without stopping. I like the fact that the bus is express or limited right from the start, unlike here in NY where the limiteds and/ or Select Buses make many stops before getting to the "skip" zones. And the 14 runs end to end with the Direct, which is hit & miss here in NYC.
One poor slob made the mistake of getting on the Direct when he wanted the local. Driver would not stop and let him off, which I agree with. Only way to learn. Perhaps Septa should continue the Direct wrap all the way around the front of the bus, since people don't read the destination sign. Maybe that would help. Also the regular front looks like the job is incomplete.

They should have done something with the front, I agree. People tend to not look at destination signs, also, so that guy went for a ride.

It will take a few more weeks and it will probably catch on. Not everybody watches the news or has a computer to have seen this was coming.

Thank you for your story.:)

You're welcome, TCG. BTW that guy got off at the first Direct stop, Cottman. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistake.

Yes, unless they saved a AN-460. To the best of my knowledge , they did not save AN-440.
I loved the sound the AN-440s made.

Sounds

Larry, it is Septa's version of NYC's Select Bus or their version of BRT. Basically a Limited Stop route 14 line, which runs the Roosevelt Blvd corridor. Interesting as the corridor apparently was set up for rapid transit, either as a subway or streetcar route. Our Philadelphia friends could add to that.
I like this route as it will be a faster way into town when we drive in, and a faster get away back to NY when we leave. The new service can really haul along.

Yes, I know. I didn't want to come off as a know it all like some other; thought I'd let the locals handle it. This way, if I was wrong in some way, I wouldn't be criticized in front of the whole universe.
Just sayin'. :)

I rode the Direct Bus today, I think it's a great service and hope it catches on. It did the NB trip in 33 minutes, much faster than the local buses, (the 14).
Quick interior shot.
Bus 7448
We made the schedule from FTC to Neshaminy Mall, traffic moved nicely on the Blvd. at 10:15 AM. If they start hauling more people, the schedule may have to be adjusted to allow more running time. I don't have the exact schedule but they seemed to be running on the every 15 minutes pattern they call out for that time of day. My bus's leader left as we were pulling in to the Mall. I waited 15 minutes and rode the same bus back to FTC, #7448. Only 10 passengers on the bus NB, and 5 SB.

A friend of mine rode the Direct Bus on Monday, and caught this renegade 40' on the line. I guess they ran short of wrapped 60 footers:)

Only over 40 years too late. After being crammed like sardines on the 40 footers, I wonder why they finally decided to make the route not miserable?

There was a "renegade" 60 footer on the Direct. No wrap. Wish I had gotten that pic.

Thanks, Joe! They wrapped 12 buses, probably that will not be enough,or something else happened.
The 40’ Bus could have been a fill-in or had an operator who was not qualified on an Artic😀
