That is only one single route? What if you want info on the other existing or planned routes or just want to know what Select Bus Service is? Tell me how many tabs do you have to clck? There is something called Planning Studies, but that is not where you will find Select Bus Service. You have to clck a number of tabs for planned routes and then you get referred to the DOT website for more clicks. As I said the DOT outreach has been abysmal. Yes if you already heard of SBS, you can find the info. DeBlasio stated he will be using billboards to publicize Woodhaven Blvd. So why not use the one on Liberty and Woodhaven to infom drivers? It's because they don't want drivers to find out they will be losing an important traffic lane from the main roadway. |

They are the lead agency. That is why the MTA site refers you to the DOT website for all reports and details. The MTA website only provides the overview. And the subject wasn't the B46 SBS. it was all SBS routes, present and future. If you wanted to know about the Woodhaven SBS, there would be no reason to click on a B46 link in the first place. Besides that B46 link was only temporary. It is not there any more. So we are back to the original question "Why does DOT and the MTA not make it easy for you to learn about existing and proposed SBS websites. Why do you have to click on numerous links without SBS even being on the main MTA website? And why would someone even bother to check the DOT website unless they were already looking for SBS and knew it was there? The average bus rider would check the front MTA webpage and look for an easy link WHICH IS NOT THERE. That is because they only want current bus riders to know about SBS. They don't want drivers to know that they will be losing lanes. That's why you won't see a single statement anywhere on either website that car lanes are being removed. ALL THEY SAY IS BUS LANES WILL BE CREATED TO SPEED BUS TRIPS. |

I think most government agencies see the required planning steps as hoops to jump through. They run the required legal advertisements. If there is a requirement for documents to be made available they have a copy at their main office and maybe deposit copies at the public library branches in the affected neighborhoods. They sit through the required public hearings while the "usual suspects" NIMBYs complain. Having taken the required steps, the agency does what it was planning to do. Why make life hard for yourself? |

Without a mouse, COPY and pasting can be anywhere from mildly irritating to virtually impossible, depending on a whole host of factors. So get off your high-horse and take the 10 seconds it would take to save everyone else A LOT OF TIME AND FRUSTRATION. I'm mean do you really think people are going to be as willing to give you a fair shake at this point if you don't even give two sh#ts about them???? Yes you do click the area where it says NEW July 3 B46 SBS, however every SBS item is on the left side of the page. Poor web design, maybe, but they are good for poor planning. " So we are back to the original question "Why does DOT and the MTA not make it easy for you to learn about existing and proposed SBS websites. Granted, both maked B46 but all links are on the left side of the page. Seems easy to me, how much easier do you need it because you can join the mailing list from MTA. |

A billboard would be the most cost effective in notifying the public of the city's plans. But they do not want any discussion, only to ram their agenda down the people's throats. If they can find money for Vision Zero TV ads, they certainly can better publicize their SBS plans by explaining both sides of the story, nit only the good points and omitting all the bad ones. |

No it is still not easy to learn about SBS.First of all mst would check the MTA website not the DOT website. Also they would check the site AFTER HAVING HEARD ABOUT SBS, not before. And why would it be logical to clck on a B46 link if you were not interested in the B46. You wouldn't. You wou,d look elsewhere. But let's say you wanted to learn more about the proposed Woodhaven SBS because you already heard about it somehow and did manage to click on the B46 link. You see Woodhaven SBS listed but when you click on it, there is only very limited information with no further links. So then you have to look further and go to Planned Routes. There you see a list of other routes with a link to DOT for further info. That link also shoukd be available from the Woodhaven page and it is not. So my point of having to guess and jump through hoops still stands. If you didn't clck on the B46 link when you wanted Woodhaven, you wou,d have to even jmp through more hoops. They could make it a lot more easier. |

If you go to the Planned Routes page, there is a link to DOT. It needs to be on more pages. There needs to be a general SBS link on the main page, not only a link to one specific route. It is poor web design. Also all the planning studies need to be on the page marked Planning Studies. It also is unclear that the Planned Service Changes page is only fir temporary service changes, not for permanent ones. |

As I said you first have to know it exists before you go to the website. That was my entire point. There needs to be additional outreach other than the website.Currently you have to go to the small tab labeled NYC Bus which technically does not even include MTA Bus. But let's forget that. Then on the pull down tab, pick Select Bus Service which has partial info. If you want more you have to click again on NYC Select Bus Service for additional info, and then the route you are interested in. To understand fare payment, there is yet another click to be made. This is sufficient for info about existing routes. But if you want info about future routes like Woodhaven, you must click again just to get general info. For more details, you have to backtrack to "Planned routes" and then click on the DOT link. To get block by block plans, additional links on the DOT site are required. And you are saying this is user friendly and easy to find? Most users would not have the patience for like 15 clicks. It's like one of those endless telephone menus. |

I think the MTA is moving away from the MTA Bus/ NYC Bus distinction, at least from the public's point of view. The new Blue and Gold buses just have MTA logos on them.
