Have you done a survey asking how many believe aliens have visited this planet? The evidence is monumental and goes back thousands of years and you are trying to make it appear like it is lunacy. And there are many murders that occurred under suspicious circumstances and classified as suicides or natural causes. It is easy to dismiss everything as conspiracy theories and uncredible. Jackie Gleason stated he believed in UFOs as did many other respected people (including hundreds of police officers). So do you use those beliefs to disqualify their achievements? |

That does not say a driver's time is worth more than a bus rider's time. The point I was making was that DOT is only considering the value of a bus passenger's time and ignoring the time of car and truck drivers. There are many more car and truck drivers and passengers than there are bus passengers and they are losing more time than is gained by bus passengers. So when EVERYONE's tine is considered the total amount of minutes lost is greater than the total amount of minutes gained making SBS on Woodhaven a poor idea. I repeatedly stated everyone's time needs to be treated EQUALLY. Then I added IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE CASE, that a bus rider's time is worth more than the tine of someone in a passenger car, it WOULD BE POSSIBLE to make a counter argument that a driver's tine is worth more because their income's are higher. I never was making that argument. I SIMPLY WAS STATING THAT THAT ARGUMENT COULD BE MADE. You clearly are reconstruing what I stated by ignoring that it was a CONDITIONAL statement, and not something I was advocating. |

You changed to be only talking about individual bus capacity. We were telling about route capacity, which is a function of route service. You had said nothing about allowing a change in bus size until much later! And even then, in NYC, when the bus size is changed, route service is typically reduced so route capacity stays the same. |

That is a great oversimplification of what is occurring. That is not the way to plan.Cars do not win when their travel time is slowed by 38 percent. Bus rider's do not win when their travel time is also slowed which is exactly what has happened with the exclusive bus lanes in effect during the AM peak between Furmanville and Metropolitan Avenue. Rather than trying to determine what went wrong and spending the next year trying to change those numbers BEFORE EXPANDING THE PROGRAM OF EXCLUSIVE LANES, DOT is moving ahead anyway. As further proof of DOT's incompetence, they look at Google Maps and propose without any volumes regarding turning data, they propose banning 26 left turn movements. After outcry from the community, THEN they go and collect data, and determine that 20 OUT OF THOSE 26 BANS SHOULD NOT BE MADE AFTER ALL. That is ass backwards planning. FIRST YOU COLLECT THE DATA AND THEN YOU MAKE THE PROPOSAL, not vice versa as DOT has done. DOT has consistently stated that SBS works elsewhere so it has to work on Woodhaven. That type of simplistic planning along with your simplistic statement is why this plan is doomed to failure. |

You stated route capacity is a function of route service and it is not possible to increase route capacity without increasing route service. I showed you why that is an incorrect statement because you CAN increase route capacity without increasing service by using bigger buses which you neglected to consider. The fact that the MTA typically reduces service when they switch to bigger buses is irrelevent to the discussion. YOU MADE AN INCORRECT STATEMENT. But at least you are not changing what you said. At least you are being consistent, unlike R30A, and I give you credit for that. |
