Nice shot! Funny thing with us and this small group at RTD. I think RTD has just 10 of these Gillig BRT hybrids. We wanted to get a photo of one, and over the three days we spent in Denver this past March we saw these buses plenty of times. The problem was nearly each time they would suddenly appear and we wouldn't be in position to get a photo for a variety of reasons, from being on another bus, in a restaurant, bus blocked by other traffic, passing two blocks away etc.

Finally near the end of our visit we got lucky:-).

Yeah, when I was there, I happened to catch it in Downtown Denver as an extra bus (had the destination sign reading MLX LOOP EXTRA) or even an overflow bus during the PM Peak...

Those buses and the 6 2010 D4500CLs with the bi-fold doors, a la NJ Transit, are quite the rarity. The only one I saw was on the N (Boulder-Eldora Mountain) line leaving the Downtown Boulder Transit Center.

Who said Gillig can't build decent buses?

They've been working fine for us for years (Phantom model). The BRTs came with some issues that were eventually rectified. For some reason though our recent order of BRTs are having some issues lately.

It does open for debate as to whether low floor buses are as durable as the high floor models they are gradually replacing nationwide.

I agree, CJ. That is subject to debate for years to come. Low floors have much less carrying capacity, for sure.
Like any other vehicle, quality depends on what was specked out, maintenance policies and other factors.

Totally agree on this. It is just like spec(ing) your own PC, whether you want a powerful CPU, many RAMs and a big hard drive.

But even with a powerful PC, if it is being misused or misplaced in the bad environment, it will still break down no matter what.
