Clearing Out the Photo Queue

Well, sort of. My website is long overdue for an update, and now that my server upgrade has been completed, I hope to post the photos I've taken between April 2011 and now that I didn't post there since I was told for many months the server change was "imminent." It took over a year and a half. Oh well. I have posted teasers here and there as I've processed photos, and here is another round of such teasers that I figured I should get out of the way. These are photos from all around Israel (mostly Jeruslaem) taken between the start of October and now that I wanted to share before Jerusalem gets snow later on today (which will hopefully result in more photos).

Sukkot in Jerusalem, many of the buses are displaying a message on their headsigns wishing passengers a joyous holiday:

Armored, bomb resistant bus

In early November, I did a 300 mike bike ride that spent 2 days in the northern part of the country and 3 days in the Negev, ending in Eilat.

I took this photo in Akko the day before the ride started:

This photo was taken somewhere on the road between Yeruham and Sde Boker in the desert:

These are from the Central Bus Station in Eilat (Eilat seems to now have some regular, intracity buses for its intracity routes, the first time I was there in 2009 those services seemed to be provided primarily by over the road coaches):

This was my bus back to Jerusalem, at the rest stop near HaTzeva, a bit south of the Dead Sea

And here are more recent photos from Jerusalem, taken during November:

Hope you enjoyed and hopefully I'll have some Jerusalem snow photos (both of the transportation and not) to share soon!

I like there bus system. I rode it many time when I was there. The first time I was on one, I can't remember witch part I was in at the time. But we were stopped by the cops and the bomb squared blow up something left on the street right in front of us. No one gave it a look. Me and my family were amazed by it.

People take that stuff in stride here and don't freak out and proceed to shut down everything in a 5 mile radius of a suspicious package. To the contrary, they try to give it as little attention as possible so people don't think they can get a ride out of bringing chaos to the city by putting unattended packages places.

I made an interesting observation recently that has something to do with Egged.

There is a game for smartphones called Jetpack Joyride. In that game, you have the opportunity to collect tokens for a slot machine-style final spin at the end of the game.

Anyway, the logo on the spin token is almost a mirror image of the Egged logo.

Egged:

Heh, looks like the driver on that 59 bus should pay a bit more attention to the roundabout. Also, is that last picture in front of the old Jerusalem train station?

The last photo is at the old train station. Buses often run up on that first part of the roundabout, I believe it is designed for vehicles to run over and some of these roundabouts are so small a bus can't possibly avoid it.
