Unless they can get another Orion V nose second hand, no. That nose on 701 is done. Even then, there's that gash above the doorway thanks to 258's exhaust pipe.MTA probably has some spare noses lying around though. Ask bus #133

Fourteen Bee-Line passengers were slightly injured when their bus was rear-ended by a second Bee-Line bus that was being taken for a road test Sunday afternoon, Westchester County officials said.The occupied bus, traveling on Tuckahoe Road and bound for the Stew Leonard’s grocery store, was struck at Mile Square Road about 2:30 p.m., officials said. The second bus was being tested after having work done in the shop, officials said. If fixing cost of 701's damage is beyond the insurance money, 701 would be going to grave yard.It is not "parts-available" issue. Westchester County also does not need extra money for fixing "worthless" buses. |

WCDOT, however, would have to pay back the federal money for the bus, which could contribute to its repair. Rarely is a bus scrapped so soon for a reason other than fire. |

Hit above bumper in the fiberglass nose should be easy enough to fix by changing the nose. Reminds me of the GBL 701 accident. Smashed right front into left rear of GBL 5516. Only GBL 701 had the nose twisted bad. |

Fifteen Bee-Line passengers were taken to local hospitals after their bus was rear-ended Sunday afternoon by a second Bee-Line bus that was empty except for the driver, authorities said.Yonkers police Lt. Patrick McCormack said the 15 injuries were mostly complaints of back, neck and other pain, and did not appear to be serious. Three other passengers in the front bus and the drivers of both buses declined any medical help, McCormack said Monday. McCormack said no charges had been filed in the accident, which occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Tuckahoe Road, just west of Interstate 87. Jerry D’Amore, president of Liberty Lines Transit, which operates most of the Bee-Line system, said the second bus was being driven to White Plains to replace one that had had mechanical problems. Earlier reports said that the second bus was being taken for a test, but D’Amore said it had not needed work. “This is a very regular thing that happens many times a week, and normally uneventfully,” he said of the replacement run. In this case, the front bus paused to let off a passenger who had just missed his stop, when it was struck, D’Amore said. Carol Stola, who lives near where the buses crashed, said the accident jarred her while she was at home. “I was in my kitchen — my kitchen faces Tuckahoe Road — and I heard this loud boom!” she said. When she looked, the buses had crashed. The accident occurred across the street from the Royal Regency Hotel, near Mile Square Road. The bus, running Route 78, was bound for the Stew Leonard’s grocery store, authorities said. I had to go to the Home Depot up there a couple of weeks ago and saw another long bus there. Since when did they stop running the short versions on that route or was that a loaner? Stew Leonards had exclusively shorties for a few years. |
