I remember that KB had gotten 8034-8079 and of course the original KB soon closed and most of KB buses went over to the newly opened Gun Hill. |

The X61 was pretty much a truncated version of the BxM3 (in the Bronx), but it served lower Manhattan. I do recall seeing KB's '81 RTSs and Grumman 870s doing X61 trips, but if that Flx made a trip... they were really scraping the bottom of the barrel. |

TMC RTS-06 #8351 and #8353-8354 went to Manhattanville for what I call a "WTF?" reason. 1997-1998 NovaBus RTS-06 #9350-9381 I could have sworn I've seen NovaBus RTS-06 #9382-9383 operating on the Q36 but whatever. 1999 NovaBus RTS-06 #4900, #4902-4944 NovaBus RTS-06 #4901 debuted in Kingsbridge. |

Thanks, I pretty much got the Bronx portion understood when people said it was a variant of the BxM3. However, what I'm looking for is if the X61 stopped in Manhattan between 125th and 23rd Streets OR did it do like the BxM18 where in it ran non-stop to 23rd and THEN made stops down to the Financial District. Thanks in advance -Trevor www.ttmg.org |

I believe these were the ones that had a white panel above the back seats instead of the black one on all the RTSs today. I believe some of the private bus companies, before MTA Bus had RTSs with them too.Let me continue FP original buses. RTS: 9140-9185, I heard 9186 was here but I never seen it. 9569-9599 5055-5074, I'm glad these are gone from here. They don't fit well here. OrionVII: 6491-6624, 6490 ran out of Mother Clara Depot few like a week. 6558-6624 is now at Grand Av. |

The X61 ran non-stop between Sedgwick/Fordham and Lower Manhattan.Initially, it used the Major Deegan Expressway, the 3rd and Willis Avenue Bridges, and the FDR Drive. In the late 1980's, the FDR was closed to buses between 23rd and 96th Streets, so it had to use the X90 (then X23) routing on York/1st/2nd Avenues (without stopping, of course). That added 30+ minutes to the running time each way, which turned off riders to the point that it wasn't worth keeping. |

You couldn't even operate a 15 passenger van on that section. I worked for the Child Welfare Admin. in 1990.1991 and several of our guys got ticketed for driving vans on that section. They would pull you over and weigh the van right on the side of the road.Rumor also had it that it was an effort to stop illegal vans from tranporting customers between the upper East side and the finacial district downtown. At that time you had a growing number of gyspy vans growing in number doing this routes. |

GMC RTS-04 #1761 ran as late as October '01 on QV local routes. It had padded express seats somewhat similar to those on Novas and O5s, but not on raised platforms. How that one bus lasted in service so much longer than others of its generation is unknown.QV and JAM express routes seemed to run the 1996 coach-seated Novas up until '01 when they started running on JAM and UP local routes. Not sure when the MCIs took over the MTA-run express routes in Queens and Brooklyn. Staten Island appeared to have MCIs on its express routes as early as '99. |

But, what is even more of a shock was the fact that both of them ended there days @ Ulmer Park, I rode both of them in there last days, both were good runners. |
