It was my idea to have the fare placed on the headsigns because it takes so long to board the passengers along the Strip. With the new fares that took effect on January 11, it was the perfect time to put on there, "$3 one way, $7 24 hours". It's an excellent way to get the message across and leave the operator alone as much as possible.Just wait until the fall when we go to off board fare collection with the implementation of the Downtown Connector. The Deuce buses will still have their fareboxes, but we're going to try and get as many ticket vending machines up as possible. |

Yeah, there is a 30-day pass, but since the Deuce on the Strip is geared more to tourists, they aren't going to buy one. Those locals that have a 30-day pass get to ride all of the services, including Deuce on the Strip. The new three-day pass is another one that is geared more towards the tourists as well. |

Yeah, the low floor D40's are just about gone. They all have well over 600,000 miles, some pushing close to 800 or 900,000. I believe there are 5 left. The D60HF artics are hanging around for a little while longer. Hopefully we'll buy new artics in the next couple of years and replace those as well as the NABI tics. |

Better than having to wait and listen for:"Welcome aboard the Deuce, $3 dollars one way, $7 all day!" Off board collection and the Downtown Connector may certainly help. I just wish Las Vegas would permit you guys to create a bus/taxi lane along the Strip. Las Vegas Boulevard is just awful to drive on - whether in a bus or a car! |

There are many routes using double deckers now, such as 202,204,110,107,109B, and 103.I heard that they are planning to open an express line connecting the Northwest "park n ride" via 95 VOH lane to DTC. I hope i can try those double deckers running on freeway soon. |

The 201 cannot have double Deckers due to a railroad bridge. The Double Deckers also do not run on freeways because they are governed at 55, and a very bad crash happened where the bus flipped over the divider on the freeway. This was when RTC first purchased the Double deckers. CAT218, do you know anything more about that crash? |

We do run them on the freeways for deadheading and as we expand our park and ride lots we will be putting them into service. The first express route from Centennial Hills will use the Wright vehicles. We have to watch our routings with the double decks as far as bridge heights so only some of the expresses will get them. The crash was not due to the speed of the bus or that it was a double decker. They are well capable of handling the freeway. It was just an unfortunate accident that could happen with any vehicle. We will be expanding double deck usage to the 115 and maybe the 101 and or 219 in the next service change. The 103 is great for the double decks as it's a good straight route and gets good ridership. |

The operators are very thankful for this too. Yeah, bus lane on the Strip, the resorts want the traffic. They said they didn't want us to have our own lane and be the only ones that could use it. We'll do what we can with the off board fare collection. We predict quite a bit of ridership increases from it. |

The first one will start at US95 and Durango and will be using the Wright Vehicles. It will head into downtown and terminate somewhere near UNLV. I can't go into details of the routing since we're still working on a few things, but I can tell you the beginning and end and the middle is up in the air. :-)There are plans for more routes, but none of that is finalized and again I don't want to go into detail of things that are just being planned and not approved. |
