Looks like # 7995 is back at Division 10.Division 6 is a diesel only yard in the LACMTA Fleet. MTA shouldve swapped buses with Division 91 ( First Transit-Compton ). Send all 60 Orion VIs from Division 91 to Division 6 Send all the TMCs/ D40LFs from Division 6 to Division 91 The Orion VIs were purchased by LACMTA, so why not. |

On a side note, I don't know if you like them, but I cannot stand riding on LACMTA's Orion VIs. They are like dungeons compared to the other LACMTA (non-contractor) buses, especially with those deep blue lights and heavily tinted windows, and for some reason they did not spec them like the other buses, down to the fact that they are diesel-powered. I believe we may have discussed this but I wonder if they are piggybacked off some other order, hence the reason for the "non-standard" specs?I haven't ridden on any of the D40LFs but at least the TMCs are bright inside even if they are a bit dirty in the rear area (i.e. sitting on graffiti-covered seats). |

I have no clue for the interior blue light specials. Im sure if they went back to MTA, they would be switched from blue to white. The reason for the aisle facing seats curbside is because the fuel tank housing is underneath them.As for the MTA buying these oddball buses...its my assumption that the Orions were prolly the lowest bidder. Shame MTA did buy diesel NABIs or NFIs to replace the First Transit buses. |

Also Id like to add that before First Transit took on the Orion VIs, they had the worst-Looking hand-me-downs from other agencies. The oldest buses they had were the ex LACMTA/SCRTD 1981 GMC RTS T8J204s. They also had some ex-Long Beach Transit RTS 04s as well...which were all painted white. Sadly enough, the headsigns were never re-programmed, and they had paper route signs. Years later, MTA sent some of the older 1983/84 Neoplan AN440s, 1988/89 Flxible Metros and TMCs down to First Transit. |

I remember those early days well (in 1996), as my home line (125 - Rosecrans Ave) was one of the ones contracted toThe initial ATE era was a bad time, schedule adherence was terrible, so I began seeking alternate wasy to work. Since I lived near Rosecrans and Western, I had alternatives, such as Gardena Municipal Bus Lines. One route I took was the Gardena 2 south on Western to Artesia, where I would get the recently rerouted 444 (which used Artesia Blvd from the South Bay Galleria to Vermont Ave, then down Vermont to the Artesia Transit Center, then onto the Harbor Transitway). Or a westbound 125 (a run that was reasonably reliable) to Rosecrans/Crenshaw, then the 210 (or the 310) to Crenshaw Green Line station, then the Green Line eastbound to either Harbor Fwy station, where I'd get one of the Harbor Fwy lines to USC, or if I had time, continue to Imperial/Wilmington to the Blue Line to Grand and then DASH F to USC. Hopefully, First Transit has improved over those early ATE days, but somehow I doubt it. |

I knew 8105 was there ... but now u have the photographic evidence that 8103 is the 2nd bus...nice shootin.FYI - Since Division 6 doesnt have CNG Fueling capability, the 8100s refuel at Division 7 ( West Hollywood ) before pulling-in to Division 6. |

FYI - Since Division 6 doesnt have CNG Fueling capability, the 8100s refuel at Division 7 ( West Hollywood ) before pulling-in to Division 6.I guess MTA changed plans, I had heard that the 8100s would use a CNG fueling facility somewhere in Santa Monica. Perhaps said facility isn't ready yet, and D7 is a stopgap measure. Of course the presence of the 8100s means that the end is near for MTA's remaining TMC RTS {sniffle} (Actually, I never cared that much for the 1200s, due in part to their |
