EXCLUSIVE: Photos of a Houston METRO Orion VII NG HEV bus |
|
Posted by Houston METRO Fan on Mon Nov 10 15:32:19 2008 Hey, all.Without further ado, here's photos of a Houston METRO Orion VII NG HEV bus. Exterior: Interior: BONUS SHOT! A pic of me in front of the bus: Yes, people--- I know ---some of them are blurry---or not clear enough---photos but the weather wasn't too nice at times but I didn't let that stop me from taking these photos. There are others that are just too bad to post so I had to pick and choose and these photos are it to share with the world. Except for some decals here and there that have yet to arrive and be put on the bus, this particular one---3626---is 100% finished---or---at least the way you see it, it's finished. Enjoy! ~Cedric Collins~ |

By that time, any decals that have yet to be put on the bus will already be there. |

Thanks for the photos. That thin black line on the sides of the bus that goes under the bus number is a bit weird - what do you think is the thinking behind that? I'm also glad the bus number on the back of the bus is in a better location than NYCT chose, in terms of the stickers having enough room to be applied flat. |

That thin black line on the sides of the bus that goes under the bus number is a bit weird...Yup but I was told---forgot now what that is---that the line you see there has to be there for some strange reason. Here's what was said about it: that black stripe is weatherstripping connecting two panels of composite material together. ttcmech was the person who said that. |

Yes, I like that the MTA puts it up high, but do to the Orion design of the rear end, there's not enough room to apply the number stickers so that the whole sticker is on the vertical plane. |

Yes, that's a standard part of the Orion VII NG design. It's on the NY Orion VIIs as well. The only thing is that Houston painted over that line, where other Transit Agencies kept that black. |

Ugly rear of the bus. The same goes for all of the current fleet. 2. Bad place to put the Q card kiosk at the rear, losing 4 seats. |

I'm not too concerned about how the rear looks. They wanted it that way, then I guess I'm OK with it. 2. Not one seat was lost because of the location of the Q Card Reloader. Only on the other 40' NFI buses, you lose one seat. The 30' NFI buses---two seats. |

The people who actually care to discuss the thread topic engaged in no flaming. Only you, once again, enter a particular thread---this one---to start trouble. True statement, IMHO. You rest your case on an assumption, but you miss the point:If you want to see if a bus loses seating thanks to the Q-card machine, you NEED to compare it to a bus that ISN'T destined to have one. Like, per se, a NYC-spec coach, or one from Toronto, or wherever you prefer. If both photos are of Houston-spec buses, all you're proving is there is a Q-card machine in the bus. If a bus is built without seats in favor of a machine, having the same setup shown with and without card machine proves nothing. I appreciate your endless enthusiasm for all things Metro, but let's not get too carried away - objectivity is always appreciated. Though he tends to flame as well, I think that may be something Gold_12 is looking for... |
