BCt:

Not a great pic, but I took it b/c it was during the last week of full-size bus service on the 23 line (and the 15, 17 and 57 lines as well). They were replaced with these new cutaways:

Now moving south into Dade County:

1998 NABI 9747 is currently doing double duty--as a 224 Coral Way MAX in the AM rush hour:

Then middays as a 40-Bird Road (you cant see the sign, but trust me it was on the 40. Pic taken at Coral Way and SW 122 Av (actually where the first pic taken, but this time, 9747 is southbound on 122 Av on the way to Bird Road)

Also during the last week of 40-footers:

I like the wrap on that Gillig. Wachovia has also wrapped several Metrorail cars, I think I posted a pic of 163 earlier taken by my friends who is a MetroMover technician.

BCt has several buses that are painted all white w/ just the BCt logo at the front. These are buses that are (or were recently) full-wrapped buses, and BCt decided to make them all white b/c when the wrap is removed, it pulled off the yellow honeycomb design, which was an applique. I guess the blue circles that they use now are also applied:

Mimai-Dade Transit to follow later...

Hey FYBklyn1959, Two ?uestions. 1: Why would anyone in this day and age buy cutaways with rollsigns? and 2: Do you know anything about the powertrain of the new 0800 series hybrids?

1. Beats me, you'd have to ask BCt about that. Bct isn't a vey good agency (IMO), which is one reason why I (and most other Broward County residents) voted against the proposed 1% sales tax for transit a couple of years ago.

2. No idea, as I haven't even seen them yet. Buswayflyer, any idea?

A few BCt pics I forgot on Saturday:

Now onto Dade...

And I conclude on a sad note, a retired 1993 or 1994 Flxible at the Northeast Division :(

Multi-route bus stop sign at the 167th St Bus Terminal, which is merely a staging area on NE 167th St, north of the Mall at 163rd St in North Miami Beach. This is a mall that was fairly nice as recently as 1993, when I came for a visit (and rode MDT for the first time, a pair of 1980 RTS on the 22 from the Howard Johnson on NW 167 St/2 Ave where I was staying), but now it (the mall) is somewhat ghetto, probably b/c the neighborhood itself is ghetto.

NABIs parked at the staging area.

Dawn shot at Coral Way & SW 122 Ave. That second bus on the 224 is a 2003 NABI 30-LFN, aka Optare, most of which have now been retired after 5 years in service (MDTs excuse is that parts are hard to get, now that the Optare is no longer manufactured).

Some recent shots of the 137 West Dade Connection, all in the vicinity of SW 8th St/137th Av.

The 51-Flager MAX was (I think) the first limited-stop route for MDT (MAX=Metro Area Express) BTW, that 2nd pic was taken before the June "lineup" in which the 51 was cut back from Miami Beach to the Omni Terminal in downtown Miami (next to the Omni MetroMover station), as part of a series of severe service cutbacks due to budgetary problems. As a result, MDT has less bus service overall than before the 1/2 cent sales tax was voted into law back in 2002. Gotta love South Florida! (NOT)

1998 NABI 9747 (yes, it is a 1998 model, despite the fleet number. All of the 9800-series NABI 40-LFWs are actually 1999 models, except for 9801 (the first low-floor bus for MDT) is currently serving double duty. In the AM peak it is on the 224-Coral Way MAX:

Then after returning to the yard, it does a noon relief run on the 40-Bird Road:

And I conclude on a sad note--a 1993 or 1994 Flxible in dead storage at Northeast Division :(
