I am posting this here and on SubChat because it pertains to both.

To announce the new SBS service on the Bx 12 bus line, the MTA has put out a new MetroCard.

The front of the card is the same (in case someone misunderstands). On the back in light blue letters they have:

+selectbusservice
On June 29, 2008 the Bx12LTD
becomes Bx12 Select Bus Service

An innovative, faster, more reliable service without any additional
cost to you. Your trip could be up to 20% faster.
Find out more at www.mta.info
Enjoy your ride

I purchased from the first large MVM at Pelham Bay Park. I don't know what other stations would have them but it may be reasonable to assume it would be subway stations along the Bx 12 route {Pelham Parkway (2), Pelham Parkway (5), Fordham Road (B, D), Fordham Rd (4), 207th St (1), 207th St (A). I don't have any way to verify this though.

That guy always has one up on ebay before the general population can get one the legal way. I assume he works for NYCT or has connections with a Station Agent. How else can he consistently get VOIDED Metrocards so early? I don't see why he hasn't been stopped.

I suppose if bought through a vending machine, he can go to the booth and trade the value to a new card, thereby voiding it for future use.

But AFAIK, trading off the value does not VOID it. It just gives it a $0 balance.

YOU are correct. Tested that today with station agent friend.
He must use the word "voided" because EBAY is not supposed to allow Pay per ride or unlimited ride metrocards to be sold on the site.

Ebay's policy is not to allow the selling of Pay Per ride or unlimited rides cards on its' site. They do not seem to police it
too much. I emailed MTA and they told me ebay is not an authorized seller of metrocards.(words to that effect)

ebay isn't the seller. the ebay member is. do you have a link to this policy on ebay.com? I don't see the reason or need for it.
