Posted by Q23 on Sat Jan 14 20:56:58 2023 The 7-day 67X Parkway Express service between Toms River and Jersey City via Newark was eliminated today (January 14th) by NJ Transit, citing low ridership. The route also provided summer service to the Jersey Shore (Seaside Park, Seaside Heights & Island Park), its future which is unclear given the 67X's elimination. This follows the elimination of the 67B Parkway Express in November last year, the rush hour commuter variant between Toms River and Newark. That service was eliminated due to low ridership as well. In its replacement, the 319 trips to/from Jersey City now make stops at Brick & Dorado Park & Ride on weekdays, except for the AM trip out of Jersey City.Collectively, the 67B, 67X, and 319 provided 3-4 trips in each direction daily. This service was oriented for several groups, including commuters, those on casual/leisure riders between northern NJ & Ocean County, and riders headed to/from Atlantic City (requiring a transfer at Toms River in most cases). The 319 trips in the early AM to/from Atlantic City and the one weekday PM trip from Jersey City remains, however it is useless for most riders. The final day of service was Friday the 13th, with the 5:15 PM trip from Toms River to Journal Square being the final trip, scheduled to arrive at 7:03 PM. That trip was done by bus 7286, a 2015 MCI D4500CT CNG unit. The bus arrived JSQ 10 minutes late.
