I never went to the other side of the Van Wyck down there in those days, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Q40 was better operated than the Q9. The Q9 had to deal with traffic in Downtown Jamaica while the Q40 ran straight up Sutphin and didn’t have to deal with that.

The MCI Classics, Orion Vs, and the RTS’ that had the electronic signs were beat up in my experience. Ironically the older rollsign RTS’ had a better ride quality, but they were hot as hell in the summer.

I remember once when I was waiting for the Q9 back to Jamaica, the driver was super late coming from Jamaica (as usual) and missed her entire layover break. That didn’t stop her from making a quick stop at the chicken joint on Rockaway Blvd and then eating while driving back to Jamaica though. She had one hand on the wheel, and was eating, drinking, and operating the doors from another hand, I will never forget that lol.
