You need neither a smart phone nor data to text.

Are you going to complain that the instructions are written in English and so discriminate against the illiterate or against immigrants?

It’s irresponsible to go out alone more than a couple of blocks without a cell phone.

HOWEVER: I don’t see any valid reason for not including the schedules.
