Posted by kcram3500 on Sat Jul 8 11:00:52 2017 How schedule appearance changed in a (relatively) short time.1 Newark-Jersey City In May of 1974, the "invisible-N" logo and "We're going your way" slogan had not yet been launched, even though the TNJ name had been in place since 1971. Buses still used the ring-and-triangle Public Service logo, with the "Transport of New Jersey" legal name under it on the sides of buses. The new logo and slogan would begin to appear about 2 months later... the logo on buses began in July 1974, and the schedule update in September.  3 Paterson (now NJT 703) This includes a transitional schedule design with both the TNJ and NJT logos. Most schedules in late 1980/early 1981 had this, and many included NJT's second official (and first successful) slogan "We're moving in the right direction".  119 New York-Atlantic City (now NJT 319) Prior to NJT, PS/TNJ long distance schedules were arranged much like train or intercity bus schedules, with the stops in a column down the left and the trips spread across in columns. There was a reason for that... PS/TNJ and early NJT long-distance schedules were listed in Russell's Guide, so the printed schedules were similarly arranged. TNJ didn't hesitate to use artwork on specific route schedules to highlight the service... in this case, casino gambling in AC... but it took a while before NJT gave up their basic black and white (even after the front-fold colors were reversed later in 1983 to save on black ink.) Note the change from "Transport of New Jersey" to "NJ TRANSIT" on the third schedule - TNJ became NJ Transit Bus Operatwions Inc. on July 1 1982, so all references to TNJ after that date were removed.
