That's a bad place to turn it around, too. There's no real good option. If Astoria South is used, then it is obligated to make a right unto Astoria and a right unto 42nd Street, two streets to the right of Steinway. If it's North, then it's obligated to make a left into Astoria and operate all the way to 37th Street, and then back to Astoria/Steinway. Or it could go to 23rd Road, right to 42nd Street and back unto Astoria/Steinway. And ridership above Astoria is not real heavy, save for the workers on 20th Avenue. |
