Posted by Railbus63 on Fri Jun 27 15:10:54 2014 NovaBus has won an order from the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority in Buffalo. The base order is for 20 LFS CNG-powered transit buses with options for 166 additional buses (diesel or CNG) over a five-year period. The contract base price is for clean-diesel buses with pricing options for CNG, BRT styling, etc. Nova beat competing bid submissions from Gillig, New Flyer and NABI.The initial order will replace the NFTA's last remaining 1996 Nova Classics and will begin the replacement of the authority's original order of LFS's from 2000. From a bus enthusiast's perspective, the new LFS's will finally bring some needed variety after 12 years of Gillig purchases. It also points to NFTA moving away from hybrid buses after purchasing multiple orders of these since 2006 (the pricing includes no option for a hybrid propulsion). |
