Posted by TransitChuckG on Sat Apr 19 20:19:05 2014 There was an underground transformer fire near the SEPTA Arrott Transportation Center , Thursday, 04-17-14 at 7 PM. The fire was on Oxford Ave. near the trackless/bus unloading zone and layover spot. Flames shot out of the ground and it was a mess.The stores on Oxford Ave., lost power. The photo below was taken at 6:13 AM, the following day, PECO was lowering a new transformer into the hole, and the stores got power back. By 10 AM, only 2 PECO trucks remained on the site, and buses could park on Oxford Ave.
