But again, for various reasons, it is a mess either way. One reason streetcars might not be great is that it would be harder to have an 'express' streetcar and a local streetcar following the same route. Expenses and road space constraints are two basic reasons we cannot have our cake and eat it too with 'express/local' streetcars.It is easier for a motor bus line to have a local and 'express' (SBS or LTD) variant following the same route since you do not need one separate track for the local and one for the 'express' (again, SBS or LTD, not to be confused with real express bus lines that use OTR coaches). It is a bit of a drag. |
