Recently visited Richmond, Virginia, home of the Greater Richmond Transit Company A.K.A GRTC. This system except three small orders is totally Gillig Country. Here are some photos and videos from that trip:

Gillig Advantage #501 at the end of Downtown Richmond before returning to the Garage:

Among the oldest in the fleet are 35 foot Gillig Phantoms numbered in the 200 series. Here is #230 in service on the VCU Downtown Shuttle:

GRTC also has two orders of 40 foot Phantom, numbered in the 600 and 800 series. Here is #616 entering Downtown on Route 62:

GRTC’s 300 series, delivered in 2008 is believed to have introduced the current Grey, Green & Purple scheme. Here is #305 outside The Shops at Willow Lawn on heavily traveled Route 6:

While riding in nearby Hernico Co., I came across an ex-GRTC Gillig Phantom is someone’s front lawn:

Among the newest in GRTC’s fleet are 2010 Gillig Low Floor BRT models numbered in the 900s. Here is #903 at the end of a Route 63 short turn:

Some of GRTC’s second set of Advantages, the 100 series still sport the old Purple/White scheme as seen with #111 on Belt Blvd, just south of the GRTC garage:

Phantom #804 starts off its rush hour assigned to Route 62 and is photograph across the street from the Richmond Railway Museum:

GRTC also has in its fleet, a handful of MCI D4500CTs for their express lines. Here is #1501 on Route 29 about to exit Downtown Richmond:

Extras:

Made a stop in nearby Petersburg, Virginia…home to more Gilligs. Here is a few from my half-hour there:
