R-17: Thank you for the great pictures and the good memories. Melrose Avenue was for me ,'the old neighborhood.' When the Bx 55 started running the peak headway was a bus a minute at least between Fordham Road and 149 Street. The branch line over to River Avenue and 161 Street was something of a Red Herring. It ran infrequently and never really built up a customer base.Larry, RedbirdR33 |
