So why is their so much opposition to the practice if in fact no one does it as you claim?He didn't say no one does it. A very, very small number of people do it, and the press makes a big issue of it. It's a kabbalistic tradition that has its roots in the ninth century C.E./A.D. and was probably a pagan custom that found its way into Judaism. As a result, most Torah-observant Jews avoid the practice. |
