The destination sign and placement of the fleet # goes back to the 1970s. The MANs and Flyers all had the #s and destination sign in that location. The exception to that rule was the gilligs delivered in 1996 where the destination sign was in the first window, however with the subisquent orders (and even Sound Transit orders) it was moved to the 2nd window back. its suppose to help with air circulation. Before they had tinted windows, they used to apply black numbers on a white background and place that in the window.
