The SBS bus lane makes a great bike lane

This evening around 6pm I biked down Second Ave from 59 St to 10 St in the brown bus lane. In the 15-20 minutes I was there, I didn't see an SBS bus at all, neither behind me nor ahead; I passed one local bus. At several of the SBS stops, there were transit personnel explaining the system to riders.

There were three lane blockages: at 48 St, a car with diplomat plates was parked in the lane (with the driver present); at 47 St, a Mercedes with regular plates was letting people out with the trunk open; at 32 St there was a police car sitting in the lane.

With such a high-profile introduction, you'd think that route supervisors would be out making sure the buses arrived as per schedule.

It seemed that at the SBS stops, the SBS portion of the stop is at one end of the block and the local bus portion is at the other, unlike the Limited stops, which were shared exactly with the local buses. So besides not knowing whether to buy a ticket if you can use either the SBS or local bus, you also don't know where to stand.

Somewhere along the way, I noticed that an official bike lane has been installed on the left-hand side of Second Avenue, but I was doing too well in the bus lane to move over. Does anyone know where exactly the bus lane begins and ends?
