Yes, yes, and yes.

In a deposition, Grotz said under oath that inspections managers were "out to get black buses" and "minority church buses."

NJDOT's principal inspector, Michael Calorel, allegedly said

" 'N-----s run junk,' " referring to minority-owned buses, Grotz said.

And yes some more.

Fun fact: almost all of the buses owned by non-white companies that went with me to the Lehigh Valley were sabotaged. Some had their tires slashed. Others had glass "strategically" placed in front of their tires.

Another fun fact: black bus operators generally refuse to report this stuff because they are afraid of things getting worse. Since no one is perfect, no one wants to be under a microscope.

Ask Great Adventure how they feel about NJDOT. You pay $1500-1700 for a bus that should cost $1100 because NJDOT will make sure that a bus leaves with a ticket on the weekend. A lot of Great Adventure's business is now at Dorney Park and even Six Flags New England now sees NY buses.

It's not just black operators either. The Chinese are much more dangerous economically than anything regarding safety. If you are a non-rich white guy, you are not much further up the food chain. It is a combination of race and class.

This is also why MTA buses do not get stopped at all despite the ones running through NJ being in poor shape. Doris Eusebio (NYC Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) plays dumb, saying that the MTA is not subject to the safety regulations when they are. Only one guy was honest with me and that was a higher up from Albany FMCSA who said that they are short resources and don't WANT to to stop MTA buses. NYSDOT said that they aren't allowed to stop official vehicles.

The article is 100% true and it isn't just NJDOT. The Feds are just as guilty, but their motivation is preserving their manpower. The Feds don't want to go after anybody unless they have had incidents or a "buddy bus company" calls them in. Thankfully, NYSDOT is more interested in helping you to comply than to break your back.

What the other DOTs don't realize is that they are driving the guys who don't want to follow the rules UNDERGROUND. When the cops break the law, why should you follow it? That is a recipe for moral hazard. So, when people hear about buses operating off the grid, don't be surprised. I would say that about 20-30% of the buses around here are off the grid.
