The problem is, unlike up here, the fans in DC aren't really keeping a watchful eye on movements.Hell, I'm even noticing that some don't even know a new order is coming until the bus pops up in service....tsk tsk tsk. I can't find ANYTHING about the new NABIs I'd shot on my recent visit on any of the DC boards. The ART NABIs are there in the June 2009 Observation Photos under DC Transit Today. Myself and at least one other person on that board posted pics of them back in June when they first hit the streets. http://forums.dctransit.info/index.php?topic=775.0 I think most of us observe as we go along with our daily doings. I can't speak for the others, but I will say that while I'm very much a transit fan, transitfanning is definitely more of a third or fourth priority. I suspect that in NYC there a lot of twentysomethings (and younger) fans who actually spend significant amounts of time chasing and reporting on the latest happenings. I know when I was still in NYC and younger I had plenty of extra time and knew just about all NYCTA movements in surface and especially RTO. For me the difference nowadays is that I'm in my forties, married and I just have a lot less time to do transitfanning. |
