I worked the road for 5 years before picking inside. Its where I got my nickname "The Bulldog" because I was a very agressive road man and tried many things other dispatchers would have been scared to try.
And let me tell you something else. Once I write a violation and turn it in to my boss its our of my hands. I'm not one who begs the boss to burn the operator and in fact I never have asked a boss what he did with my violation.
A violation is just that. A report to the boss that an operator violated a operational rule, nothing else. When an operator comes back to me and tells me he got off easy thats fine with me, because did my job and the operator gets in no serious trouble. On the same hand if an operator gets a serious penalty I don't like it but the operator violated the rules, not me.
If I were to violate the rules my manager would have no problem writing me up.
MTA is a cold hearted business but as a buff in the heart I love my job.
