Gillette Stadium, where the New England Patriots play, is nowhere near any bus route, although the MBTA Commuter Rail Providence line runs nearby. In fact, for the past several years the T schedules special game day train from both Boston's South Station and from Providence. Although OT, my question: is special train service such as this a violation of these regultions or does it apply only to public transit's bus operations.Back on topic, in the past the MBTA had supplied some lift equipped buses to assist with transporting some of the wheelchair athletes, along with the thousands of runners from Boston to the starting line of the Boston Marathon in Hopkinton. A private bus company is hired by the Boston Athletic Orgnization to schedule and coordinate the tranport operations. This company only has about 15 to 20 coaches, so obviously they have to sub out hiring hundreds of school buses, plus some additional coaches for the elite runners and VIP's. There aren't many lift equipped motorcoaches among the bus companies in the Boston area, so I would guess the MBTA would be legally prohibited from assisting in this transport operation even though they have more handicap accessible buses than any other private bus operator.
