Imagine if this rule came into effect about 5 years ago before the Blue Line to Largo opened. Then no one could have provided shuttles from the Metro at a reasonable cost. FedEx Field is the largest NFL stadium, with over 90,000 seats, sells out every game, and still has a waiting list for season tickets. It takes 60-80 minutes on average for the parking lots to clear after a game, and game traffic on some days causes backups on the Beltway for miles. It would be in everyone's best interest to subsidize WMATA and allow them to run the routes to provide an incentive for taking Metro to the stadium. |
