I was lucky enough to get 6108 on my way down to school this morning. This was the first time that I have ridden this bus since it got its Luminator Horizon sign back in 2004. It was rehabbed in 2006-2007 and is a VERY CLEAN bus, which seems to be common on South Division routes these days. At first, I thought that it was a rehabbed 2002 NABI, but when I noticed that the font on the headsign was thinner and different, I realized that it could only be 6108.Apparently before doing the full rehab on the NABIs, they tested out some signs ranging from the Tempe-style front/side/rear switch to Luminator Horizon signs, to replacing the front sign with a full-color Luminator sign that was supposed to show the "color" routes better. They settled with replacing the Luminator LEDot signs with new ones of the same kind, and this appeared on the prototype rehab that was put on display at Sunday on Central in 2005. It was numbered somewhere between 6050-6100, I don't remember which bus it was though. The prototype NABI 40-LFW rehab AFAIK has been repainted to a regular rehab. It was different in the fact that although it had the new signs/windows/seat cushions, it had the OLD color scheme and the old-design seat cushions, since it was rehabbed in 2005 before the new color scheme was announced. When the "actual" rehabs started, they were all done in the new color scheme. A couple 1999 40-LFWs also had their seat cushions replaced with "new" versions of the old design. |
