Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin Av will see better service.

This corridor really needs Metrorail service.

Metro launches major overhaul of 30s Metrobus line
Metro is launching a major overhaul of its busiest and oldest bus line beginning Sunday, June 29. The revamped 30s Metrobus line will include two new limited-stop routes during morning and evening rush hours, two new neighborhood shuttle services and dedicated supervisors stationed along routes to respond quickly to service issues.

Restructuring and expanding service on the 30s line will better meet the needs of customers on our busiest bus line, said General Manager John Catoe. Customers can expect faster travel times, less crowding and better supervision to keep the buses on schedule.

Improvements to the 30s line are aimed at enhancing reliability and decreasing travel times on one of the District of Columbias most important transit corridors. About 20,000 passengers ride the 30s line every weekday, making it the most heavily used line in the Metrobus system.

As part of the new service plan, Routes 37 and 39 are new limited-stop bus routes that will provide faster travel times for customers traveling downtown during weekday rush hours. Route 37 (Wisconsin Avenue Limited Line) will run 7 to 10 a.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. weekdays from Friendship Heights to Archives-Navy Meml-Penn Quarter Metrorail stations via Wisconsin and Massachusetts avenues. Route 39 (Pennsylvania Avenue Limited Line) will run 6:35 to 9:30 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays from Naylor Road to Foggy Bottom-GWU Metrorail stations via Pennsylvania Avenue.

Routes M5 and 31 will provide neighborhood shuttle service. Route M5 (Naylor Road Line) runs from Naylor Road to Eastern Market Metrorail stations via Naylor Road. Route 31 (Wisconsin Avenue Line) runs from Friendship Heights to Foggy Bottom-GWU Metrorail stations via Wisconsin Avenue.

Routes 32 and 36 will continue to offer customers cross-town service between Friendship Heights, Southern Ave and Naylor Road Metrorail stations via Wisconsin and Pennsylvania avenues.

In addition to restructuring the 30s bus line, Metro is placing additional supervisors along routes to help cut down on bus bunching, improve schedule reliability and increase enforcement of parking regulations at bus stops. Metro also is working closely with the District Department of Transportation to introduce traffic control officers at congested intersections on the route.
